Introduction

Mr B Rule

HEADTEACHER

This is a very exciting time for your sons and daughters as they start to think about which courses they would like to study in years 9-11. Across the country, every student's curriculum will be made up of two parts: those subjects students have to study and those they can choose to study. We offer a wide range of optional courses because we have students with a wide variety of interests, aspirations and talents, here at Wyvern. So we hope there is something for everyone.  This section of our website provides the information they – and you – will need to decide which courses are the right ones for them to pursue.

We are asking students to tell us which courses they would like to study, from the option blocks we have created. We will work hard to ensure that as many of them as possible get all of their preferences but there are reasons why they might not; sadly we cannot afford to run groups which attract low numbers and we cannot always afford to put on extra groups for oversubscribed groups. It is therefore important for them to consider a range of courses they would be happy to study and not become fixated on one definite set.

Students will be given a lot of guidance in college to support them through this process. I hope they enjoy finding out about what is available and wish them all the best in their decision making.
